It is a natural sports venue. Slovenia has also won recognition in the world of sport as the host of important international competitions. The athlete who is fastest, strongest, or be er prepared is the one who comes out on top of their game. Maribor - as a football camp destination Since football is one of the most popular sports in Slovenia, there are excellent conditions for training camps in di erent cities, for example Ljubljana, Maribor, Ptuj, Rogla, Portorož and many others. Maribor as second largest city is a perfect training destination also for volleyball, handball, basketball, indoor football, table tennis, martial arts and sports rhythmic gymnastics. Maribor is pleasantly small, with the wonderful nature of the Pohorje Plateau on one side and vine growing hills on the other, and the River Drava flowing through it. WEATHER CONDITIONS INKRANJSKA GORA Average number of sunny days: 79.5 Average number of days with snow: 72.4 Average daytime temperature in summer: 17.6 °C Average daytime temperature in winter: -3 °C Kranjska Gora is a paradise for outdoor sports activities in Julian Alps. Athletes are also welcome to train in the Vitranc Sports Hall (located in the centre of the village, just 500m from the hotels). Our friendly sta will a end to the athletes and all their wishes so they can fully focus on training. Kranjska Gora is becoming the centre for football training camps for professional and amateur sports teams. Teams have one small and two large football fields at their disposal. The fields with freshly cut grass are all well maintained and are at most 500 meters away from the hotels. Apart from being a destination for indoor sports, Kranjska Gora is ideal for outdoor sports as well. Just to mention a few: riding and equestrian school, cycling, adrenaline cycling, rollerblading, alpine ascents, golf training, photo hunting, fishing, beach volleyball, alpine skiing and ski jumps. The village is removed from large cities and their accompanying hustle and bustle and, with its unspoilt nature, is supremely suitable for athletes wishing to train and prepare in complete tranquillity. Other sporting activities Athletics There are well-equipped outdoor athletics facilities througout Slovenia ready to cater for your training sessions whether youchoose to excercise at dawn or dusk. The most recent major success for Slovenian athletics was Primož Kozmus‘s Olympic gold medal in the hammer. Running The climate,wide diversity of terrain, and the short distances between town, country and coast make Slovenia perfect for runners. Marathons and half-marathons regularly prove popular with local and international athletes. The Ljubljana Marathon is becoming more and more widelyknown every year. Around 18,000 runners from 35 di erent countries join this marathon. Olympic medals have also been won by Slovenian runners Brigita Bukovec and Jolanda Čeplak, an 800 m world record holder. Cycling For professional and recreational cyclers and mountain bikers looking to head o the beaten track, Slovenia o ers an abundance of hidden trails in the mountains and througout the green hilly countryside. Davo Karničar was the first person to ski from the peak of Mt Everest. The ultramarathon biker Jure Robič has won the RAAM, the most demanding bike race, several times. The ultramarathon swimmer Martin Strel was the first person to swim the Mississippi, the Amazon and the Yangtze. Irena Avbelj has won numerous skydiving competitions.
