53 ACCOMMODATIONS The hotels classified in Kompas brochure are based on local classifications, which vary from country to country. The hotels listed in this brochure will be used on almost all departures. If a change becomes necessary for any reason, hotels substituted will be similar to those shown. While every effort is made to reserve only twin bedded rooms, it may occasionally happen that a hotel provides some double-bedded rooms instead. These rooms will be allocated to couples in majority of cases. Triple rooms are not guaranteed and are on request only. Triple rooms are generally based on an extra rollaway bed, which is not always suitable for adults. Please note it is standard policy that hotel rooms are available for check in after 3 p.m. Early hotel check-in requires a pre night be booked and paid. MEALS ON TOUR As specified in each itinerary. Meals are based on the hotel's or restaurant's buffet or set local menu. In general, beverages are not included, unless specifically stated. Dietary and allergy requests must be submitted to Kompas at the time of making your reservation. And while Kompas will transmit those requests to the hotels, restaurants, and other service providers, they are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed. TRANSFERS Arrival and departures transfers are provided if arrival/departure is to/from city the tour starts or ends. Transfers are provided complementary from local airports, harbors, etc to hotels and vice versa by motor coach or private car only on first and last day of the tour as per itinerary under condition that accurate transfer information is provided. Your arrival transfer is guaranteed for up to one hour from your scheduled arrival time to compensate for minor delays. Kompas or the transfer company will not be responsible for flight delays, for any reason, beyond one hour from your originally scheduled arrival time. In case of a delay, please contact the emergency number provided in your travel document. If not, whether due to flight delay or time spent reporting baggage damage or loss, it will be your responsibility to make other transfer arrangements such as a taxi. Transfer costs are non-refundable, and any additional expenses will be your responsibility. If you arrive to other airport, harbor, etc transfers can be provided with extra cost. Also, if you deviate from the arrival and/or departure dates as stated in the itinerary, you may purchase the transfer service prior your final tour payment date. SMOKING Smoking is not allowed on motor coaches or minibuses. LUGGAGE Porterage for one suitcase included in program price. No responsibility is accepted for loss or damage to baggage or passenger belongings. Coaches have limited capacity for luggage of 1 piece of standard airline baggage per person. All lost luggage on connecting flights are not responsibility of land operator. We do not guarantee that the luggage will be found and delivered to assigned hotel. We will provide assistance on the spot (through our tour director and local offices) that will help the passenger communicate with air company. HOLIDAYS During local or national holidays, certain facilities such as museums, restaurants, sightseeing tours and shoppingmallsmay be limited or not available. Alternatives will be offered whenever possible. NOT INCLUDED IN PROGRAM PRICE Passports; visas; tips to your Tour Director, tour driver, and local city guides; laundry, beverages, optional excursions; and other expenses of a personal nature, food not on the regular table d'hote menu (these extra items will be billed to you before leaving the hotel or restaurant); PASSPORTS, TRAVEL DOCUMENTS AND VISAS A valid passport is required of all tour participants. All passengers regardless of the passport they hold should check with the appropriate consulates to determine is any visas are needed. Securing any needed visas is the responsibility of the tour participant. No responsibility is accepted for loss of or damage to travel documents or any of passenger’s belongings. PHOTOGRAPHS &MAPS Photographs show places in geographic areas but are not necessarily included in the tour. Maps shown on the tour pages are for general information and may not accurately reflect actual routes. SAFETY Please be aware that during your participation in tours operated by Kompas, certain risks and dangers may arise beyond our control including, but not limited to, the hazards of traveling in undeveloped areas; travel by boat, train, automobile, aircraft, or other means of transportation; the forces of nature, political unrest and accident or illness in remote regions without means of rapid evacuation or medical facilities. Kompas will not have liability regarding provision of medical care or the adequacy of any care that may be rendered. It is understood that Kompas will use its best efforts to ensure that adequate measures are taken. RESPONSIBILITY * IMPORTANT * Kompas and/or its agents act only in the capacity of agent for the passengers in all matters pertaining to the tour, whether by plane, rail, motor coach, ferry, cruise ship or any other means of conveyance. They shall not be liable for any injury, damage or loss caused by neglect or default of any company or person engaged in conveying the tour, or any hotel proprietor or other person supplying services or material in connection with the tour. Kompas reserves the right to withdraw a tour, refuse to accept or retain any person as a member of a tour at any time, or to make changes in the published itinerary, whenever in their sole judgment conditions warrant or if they deem it necessary for the comfort, convenience, or safety of the passengers. All prices are based on tariffs in effect at the same time of publication of this manual and are subject to reconfirmation at the time of booking. Refunds for any portion of the tours not taken will be made by the operator on the cancelled portion, less the expenses incurred in the handling. All requests for refund of unused services, etc. must be sent to Kompas and/or its booking agent, in writing, no later than 30 days after completion of relevant program. Kompas shall be released fromany liability under the guarantee to such participant who does not file a timely claim. GROUP ESCORT If your own group escort accompanies the group, it should be understood that the Kompas tour director is in complete charge for that portion of the trip operated by Kompas. They will most happily work and confer with your group escort, but announcements to the group and decision making must be left to the Kompas tour director. Please understand that this cooperation is necessary to avoid conflicting information given to tour members, which could interfere with the scheduled program of Kompas tour. It should also be noted that the Kompas tour director cannot make alterations or deviations to the itinerary at the request of your group escort.
