Overview
This tour of the highlights of
beautiful Hungary showcases some of Europe’s best
kept secrets alongside some of the stars of its
tourism stage. Grand Budapest is one of Europe’s
finest cities and has attracted visitors for
centuries to see its spectacular architecture, such
as the marvellous Hungarian Parliament building and
various UNESCO World Heritage sites. It also boasts
a wonderful array of fine culture, arts, galleries
and museums. In addition, we visit marvellous cities
such as secessionist Szeged and unforgettable Pécs,
as well as graceful tranquil Lake Balaton. As is
only proper, we also enjoy fine cuisine and perhaps
a glass of local wine in the evenings. All in all,
it’s a trip made in heaven.
Itinerary
Touring: Budapest -
Szentendre - Visegrád - Gödöllő - Kecskemét - Szeged
- Pécs - Balatonfüred
Day 1: Budapest
Arrival in glorious Budapest
about noon, in time for a tasty lunch at the hotel.
After lunch, we enjoy informative panoramic
sightseeing around the Hungarian capital, then
dinner with a folklore programme in a typical
Hungarian restaurant. (D,O)
Day 2: Budapest
After breakfast, more sightseeing in
Budapest by coach and on foot, taking in Andrássy
Avenue and Castle Hill, both UNESCO World Heritage
sites, Heroes' Square, Vajdahunyad Castle, the
Basilica, Parliament, Matthias Church and the
Fishermen's Bastion. (B,D,O)
Day 3: Budapest - Szentendre – Visegrád – Esztergom - Budapest
We
enjoy an excursion to the Danube Bend to visit the
charming village of Szentendre with its famous
Margit Kovacs ceramic museum, continuing to Visegrád,
Hungary’s former capital, and Esztergom, the
religious centre of the country and site of a famous

Day 4: Budapest – Gödöllő -
Budapest
Our tour takes us to Gödöllő, and the
beautiful baroque style Royal Grassalkovich Castle,
including a tour of the luxurious rooms. You may be
photographed in 19th century costume and enjoy a
carriage ride in the castle garden. Afternoon at

Day 5: Budapest - Kecskemét -
Szeged
We travel to beautiful Kecskemét and visit
the amazing Art Nouveau Cifrapalota building, then
go on to elegant Szeged, stopping at the
secessionist Kiskunfélegyháza City Hall on the way.
Afternoon sightseeing of the highlights of Szeged,
one of the world’s best secessionist cities, with
dinner in a typical fishermen’s inn. (B,L,D,O)
Day 6: Szeged
Further sightseeing in lovely Szeged,
visiting the city’s most important secessionist
monuments such as the synagogue, the eclectic neo-romantic
Votive Church, the Roman-Gothic Dömötör Tower, the
University, and the Gothic church. Gourmet-dinner in

Day 7: Szeged - Pécs
We go on
to fabulous Pécs in time for lunch, then see the
secessionist masterpieces in the Zsolnay Porcelain
factory and museum. Then a foot tour of Pécs to see
the fine UNESCO World Heritage cathedral and much
more, and lastly enjoy dinner with the famous red
wines of Villány. (B,L,D,O)
Day 8: Pécs –
Balatonfüred
Our tour takes us to little Szántód and
the shores of Lake Balaton, with a boat cruise
across the lake to Tihany to see the 12th century
abbey with lunch in a typical local restaurant. An
afternoon at your leisure in the picturesque popular
resort of Balatonfüred. (B,L,D,O)
Day 9:
Balatonfüred - Budapest
In the morning we return to
Budapest, arriving in time for lunch with the
afternoon free for a little shopping or extra
sightseeing in this marvellous city. In the evening,
we luxuriate with a scenic Danube cruise with dinner
to have a perfect last evening together. (B,L,D,O)
Day 10: Budapest
After breakfast, check out and
transfer to the airport for your homeward flight.
