Overview

Come discover two beautiful Alpine countries: Austria and Slovenia. Even if both countries have some common past, you will be amaze of the many different landscapes and architectural styles that you will experience during these 12 days. And to make it even richer we have hand-picked a number of local restaurant that will add some new flavor to your palate and let you enjoy some local delicacies while listening to local folklore music.

Itinerary

Touring: Vienna - Maribor - Rogaška Slatina - Ljubljana - Portorož - Nova Gorica - Kranjska Gora - Bled

Day 1: arrival to Vienna
You will be met and transferred to your hotel. Check-in at hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to explore Vienna, one of the most beautiful historical cities in the world. The tour director meets with you in the evening. Dinner at the hotel and overnight. (D,O)

Day 2: Vienna
Breakfast. The morning sightseeing tour features the Hofburg, once the seat of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Belvedere Palace, views of the Prater amusement park, UN buildings, St. Stephen's Cathedral and the other vivid reminders of the city's imperial history. For lunch you will enjoy typical local food at a local restaurant Afternoon at leisure. Dinner at the hotel and overnight. (B,L,D,O)

Day 3: Vienna
Breakfast. In the morning, one of the tour's highlights, the visit to the Vienna Woods and then to Mayerling. Lunch at a local restaurant. The rest of the day is free for shopping and exploring the hidden streets of Vienna. Dinner at the hotel and overnight. (B,L,D,O) 

Day 4: Vienna - Maribor
Slovenia. Breakfast. After breakfast, drive southwards across the Slovenian border to reach Maribor. After a relaxing meal at a local restaurant, visit through Maribor, the second largest Slovenian city, home of the oldest vine in Europe (over 400 years old). Your journey through the city of Maribor will be concluded with an exciting ride by a traditional wooden raft, while listening to traditional music. To have a taste of delicious local wines, we take you to a local winery to have a feast with local delicacies. Overnight at a hotel (B,L,D,O)

Day 5: Maribor – Ptuj - Rogaska Slatina
Breakfast. Our journey continues to the city of Ptuj. Our journey continues to Rogaška Slatina, a health resort with 400 years of history. Free time to relax in a hot spring or to take a relaxing stroll through the beautiful parks of Rogaška Slatina. Dinner and overnight at hotel. (B,L,D,O)

Day 6: Rogaška Slatina - Ljubljana
Breakfast. On this day, we take you to Ljubljana the Slovenian's capital city. Our tour begins with a visit of the open air market, the City Hall, the Three Bridges and the Parliament. Lunch at local restaurant. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight at hotel. (B,L,D,O)

Day 7: Ljubljana – Postojna – Piran - Portorož
Breakfast. On the way to the coast we will visit the Postojna caves. A ride by electrical train will be followed by a guided walking tour. Only 9 km away from the Postojna Caves is one of the most interesting baroque castles in Slovenia, the Predjama castle. It hangs dramatically in the middle of a 123 m high rocky cliff. After lunch at a local restaurant, we invite you to visit the town of Piran, a coastal city with charming Venetian architecture. You will be able to enjoy local seafood delicacies for dinner. Day 8: Portorož - Nova Gorica
After breakfast, departure for Lipica, where you will have a guided visit of the stables of the Lipizzaner horses. A special feature is a show-program of star Lipizzaner studs performing the excellence of what they have learnt in their school of training. After a typical local meal we take you to the picturesque village of Štanjel with typical Karst architecture, which is followed by a tasting of the local delicacy, the air-cured ham "pršut" and famous red wine Teran at a typical Karst farm. Continue to the centre of this region, the small town of Nova Gorica, built after the WWII, today known as the Slovenian Las Vegas. Gamble your night away at Casino HIT GORICA. (B,L,D,O)

Day 9: Nova Gorica – Kobarid - Vršič Pass - Kranjska Gora
After breakfast, drive through the wonderful valley of Soča to the city of Kobarid, where you will visit the stunning museum of First World War. After enjoying a meal in one of the great local restaurants, your journey takes you over the mountain pass of Vršič, where you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the valley, to the small and picturesque alpine resort of Kranjska gora. Dinner and overnight at hotel. (B,L,D,O)

Day 10: Kranjska Gora – Bled
After breakfast, continue to Bled, the pearl of the Alpine region. A unique city with its emerald-green lake, a church on the island in the middle of the lake. After a bus ride around the lake a guided tour of Bled castle will start. Then you will be taken by Bled's typical "pletna" boat to the island. Lunch at local restaurant. Afterwards, we take you to the Blejski vintgar gorge. The walk leads you over hanging bridges and through galleries just above tumultuous rapids and deep pools of crystal-clear water. Dinner with folk music at a local restaurant. Overnight in Bled. (B,L,D,O)

Day 11: Bled – Bohinj - Vogel - Bled
After breakfast departure for the lake of Bohinj and ride by cable car up to the Mt.Vogel (1600 m high). After a pleasant mountain snack, you will visit the largest glacier lake in Slovenia with a view of the highest Slovene peak (Mt.Triglav) rising above it. Take a 15 minutes walk to the source of the Sava Bohinjka river and afterwards relax at the side of the peaceful lake of Bohinj. (B,L,D,O)

Day 12: Departure
Breakfast and transfer to Ljubljana's airport. (B)
