Overview

It is a perfect holiday destination, and this fascinating 8-day visit is a wonderful blend of all of its best elements and destinations. We explore the finest remains of millennia-old cities such as Athens and Ephesus, sail to stunning Santorini, and enjoy warm evenings strolling atmospheric streets, relaxing in traditional tavernas and watching the sun set idyllically over the sea. It’s a perfect chance to get to know the cradle of European civilisation.    

Itinerary

Touring: Athens - Piraeus - Mykonos - Kusadasi (Turkey) - Patmos -  Rhodes - Heraklion - Santorini - Piraeus

Day 1: Athens
Meeting at the airport and transfer to the hotel. (D, O)  

Day 2: Athens - Piraeus – Cruise to  Mykonos
We cruise from the port of Piraeus to the lively island of Mykonos, famed for gorgeous beaches, beautiful windmills, chic boutiques and popular nightclubs. A place to stroll the little streets, enjoy shopping, then bask in the serenity of sunset over its picturesque harbour. (B, L, D, O)  

Day 3: Cruise to Kusadasi, Turkey - Patmos
Kusadasi in Turkey is near ancient Ephesus, whose incredible columns, theatres and streets must be seen at least once in everyone’s life. After time to see the typical colourful bazaar by the port, we cruise out to fabulous, scenic and peaceful Patmos.  (B, L, D, O)  

Day 4: Cruise to Rhodes
Idyllic Rhodes boasts magnificent beaches and abundant year-round sunshine. Highlights include the ancient acropolis of the goddess Athena towering on a rocky promontory above charming Lindos, while below it lies St Paul’s Bay, where the Apostle landed.  (B, L, D, O)

Day 5: Cruise Heraklion, Crete and Santorini
Magical Crete is home to the substantially restored Palace of Knossos, seat of the mighty Minoans and said to be the mythical Labyrinth of King Minos. We then cruise to the marvellous archipelago of Santorini, perhaps the most breathtaking Greek islands. (B, L, D, O)  

Day 6: Athens
Our Athens city tour features the city’s most famous sights - Hadrian’s Arch, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Acropolis, the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheum and the unparalleled Parthenon. In the evening we enjoy the ‘Athens by Night’ tour, and a typical taverna. (B, D, O)  

Day 7: Athens
Enjoy a day at leisure to explore Athens’ history, or perhaps take a charming afternoon trip along the winding coastal road with its numerous beaches to Cape Sounion, dominated by the impressive marble pillars of the Temple of god Poseidon, where breathtaking views of the Saronic Gulf await. Day 8: Athens
Breakfast and leisure until transfer to the airport for your homeward bound flight. (B)
