Description
Since Bosnia and
Herzegovina is still a largely an unexplored region,
its mountainous beauty and natural landscape have
remained remarkably untouched. Podvelezje, located
just 10km west of Mostar, has recently acquired
‘eco’ zone status. This is a lovely spot for hiking
due to its natural location at the foot of Mount
Velez, the highest mountain peak in the region at
1900 metres. The area is very well known for its
traditionally produced cheeses, quality honey, and,
herbal plants with medicinal benefits. After a long
walk, a lunch is served in the ‘Sunshine’
restaurant. You return to Mostar in the afternoon.
