Descend to the underground realm of the coalmining
museum of Velenje. With special light and sound
effects, a genuine miner’s snack, a ride on the mine
railroad and miners saying “GOOD LUCK”, you will
return to the past and truly experience the miner's
life as it once was. The museum is here to tell the
story of coalmining in Slovenia and bring it close
to a wide audience.
Next, you will visit Velenje Castle, which is
situated on the hill above Velenje. Its core was
built in the 13th century, but most of its present
form was acquired three centuries later when the
inner arcaded courtyard, the greater part of the
picturesque walls and towers, and the powerful
circular Renaissance defence tower were added.
