Description
Velika Planina is a plateau
located in the heart of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, not
far from the medieval town of Kamnik, and only 30
kilometres form the capital Ljubljana.
In the winter months it is a pleasant family ski
resort, and in the summer it offers the possibility
for walks, longer treks and mountainbiking. Every
year the majority visitors are drawn to the herders’
settlement, which is one of the last preserved of
its kind in Europe.

settlement, where the visitors, besides the
traditional dishes, can get to know the simple
herders’ way of life.
