Description
Gdansk, a historic seaport and
now a place to buy fine jewellery, has many fine
Hanseatic League-era buildings, with most tourist
attractions in its imposing old town on or near
Długi Targ (Long Market) and Ulica Długa (Long
Street), a splendid pedestrianised walkway with
elaborate city gates at both ends. This area, the
traditional route of visiting kings’ processions, is
called the Royal Road. The huge St. Mary's Church
features a famous astronomical clock from 1464.
